We’re still overjoyed at winning Waveney Valley in the General Election. After 14 years of having the amazing Caroline Lucas as our one MP, it’s just fantastic that this time we sent four MPs to Parliament and one of them is from the Eastern Region.

It shouldn’t surprise anyone that we started working in 2019 to win big in 2024. Now we need to start planning for a General Election in 2028 so we can win big at the next one too!

Yes I can chip in

The Eastern Region Green Party needs another £15,000 this year to cover staff and campaign costs. We are confident that we can raise this to give the best possible start on our journey to elect as many County Councillors as possible and win four MPs in the East next time.

If we bridge this gap we’ll be able to employ an Eastern Campaigns Manager just at the crucial moment and target 4 seats next time!

Thank you,

Catherine Rowett

Deputy Coordinator Eastern Region Green Party

Ps: if you can’t manage a monthly payment just now a one off is really appreciated The work starts now on the East’s next Green MP’s! Make a one-off donation! (actionnetwork.org)

  • Salary: £25,236 – 28,419 FTE (FTE, pro rata for part-time role)

A by-election has been called in Abbots Langley & Bedmond – part of the Three Rivers district where we have three councillors already but want to increase this.

Our hardworking candidate, Jane Powell is campaigning to win but with polling day on 22nd August, we need your help.

If elected, Jane would join Chris Mitchell, Narinder Sian and Cheryl Stungo on Three Rivers District Council fighting for the climate action we urgently need, to protect our local environment and for equality across our district.

To win this by-election, we urgently need volunteers to help us canvass voters, telling them about Jane’s work in the local area and letting them know why they should vote Green.

We have action days on the weekends 10th/11th August and 17th/18th August but are out campaigning during the week as well so whatever time you have spare to help get Jane elected would make a big difference.

Click below to let us know when you can help and we will be in touch.

I can help this month!

We look forward to seeing you between now and 22nd August to help elect yet another Green councillor in Hertfordshire!

All the best,

Alex Catt,

Field Organiser for the East of England

With your help we did it! A first Green MP for the Eastern Region, with Adrian Ramsay having been elected in Waveney Valley. And four Green MPs in Parliament, speaking up for the environment, their Constituents and for you. And for the change we need to see.

Thank you.

This result is an incredible breakthrough for the Green Party and shows how much appetite there is for something different from the status quo. We are proud that we were offering people real change and real solutions to the crises this country, and the planet, face.

Four MPs is not our only historic victory in this election. We have reached a record national vote share too. People have voted for us everywhere right across the Region. People have embraced the chance to choose real hope and real change right across the country.  And we will continue to speak out for that change, not just in Parliament but at the Ballot Box as we now prepare to give you more chances to vote Green – this time in the County elections in 2025

Contact details for your new MP

Who’s Adrian Ramsay?

Born and brought up in Norwich, Adrian went on to gain a First Class Degree in Politics and Sociology from the University of East Anglia in 2002, where he received an award for his Politics essays. He later gained a Masters’ Degree and has lectured in politics and economics.

Adrian joined the Green Party in 1998 at the age of 16 because he felt the other parties were overlooking environmental issues and were not tackling poverty and animal cruelty. He still feels strongly that the Green Party is the only party with strong and coherent policies on these issues.

As a leading Councillor in Norwich from 2003-2011, Adrian oversaw unprecedented success for the local party seeing it grow rapidly to become the largest Green councillor group in the country at the time.

Adrian was deputy leader of the party from 2008-2012 and played an integral role in the team that saw Caroline Lucas elected as the first Green MP in Brighton Pavilion in 2010.

Adrian has served as the CEO of two national environmental charities, including the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) and has worked as a senior lecturer in environmental politics and economics. He currently leads MCS Charitable Foundation which advocates for renewable energy and green homes.

In 2021, Adrian was elected as Co-Leader of the Green Party with Carla Denyer, who’s a city councillor in Bristol.

Our Ideas

A system based on inequality and exploitation is threatening the future of our planet and making the lives of many not as good as they should be. The Greens are the only political party in England and Wales committed to fixing this. And this is how we are going to do it

The Friends of the Earth/Greenpeace have evaluated the main parties’ manifestos and policies, and the results are out!

They evaluated the Green, Labour, LibDem, and Conservative manifestos against forty criteria in four groups: Climate and energy, Nature and environment, Homes and transport, and Justice and democracy. The Green Party romped away with first place, scoring 39 out of 40. That’s almost twice as much as Labour, whose policies are hamstrung by their refusal to raise the taxes that are needed to fund investment in the environment and social justice.

The results are here: https://friendsoftheearth.uk/system-change/general-election-2024-manifestos-final-scores

And the evaluation criteria are here: https://www.greenpeace.org.uk/resources/manifesto-ranking-criteria-2024/
