On June 4th along with the European Elections, County Council elections will take place in all five of the counties in Eastern Region and in Bedfordshire elections will take place to the new unitary councils.
We have a good chance of increasing the number of Green Party County Councillors in the region especially in places such as Norwich where we will be credibly hoping to triple our County Councillors, Cambridge where we hope to win our first seats in Cambridgeshire, Mid Suffolk where Andrew Stringer has a good chance of election, Watford where Steve Racket will be defending his seat and Witham where well know District Councillor James Abbott will be eyeing up the Witham seat bringing a principled voice on to Essex County Council. In Bedfordshire we will be hoping to retain our existing two seats on the new Central Bedfordshire Council after massive boundary changes.
Further information on our candidates and policies for the Council elections 2009 will be available soon.
