Greens win Norfolk county seat

9 May 2005

The Green Party has captured its first county council seat in Norfolk.

Andrew Boswell from the Green Party took the Nelson division in Norwich for the party, snatching it from the Liberal Democrats.

The Tories retained control of the county council with a working majority of nine compared with 10 last year.

Results for the 83 seats contested gave the Tories 46 seats, Labour 22, the Lib Dems 14, with the Green Party securing its first seat.

Dr Boswell lives in the ward on Havelock Road and works at the University of East Anglia in Norwich.
